Hi! My name is Kanav Mittal, and welcome to my corner of the Internet! I will be a Software Engineer at NVIDIA starting August 2026 working on AI for chip design (VLSI).

I recently graduated with my M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) from UC Berkeley where my master’s thesis focused on AI (mis)alignment in education. I was fortunate to be advised by Professor Gireeja Ranade. I was graciously supported by the Siebel Scholarship.

Before that, I graduated with my B.S. in EECS from UC Berkeley as well (go bears!). I was fortunate to work with Professor Nilah Ioannidis and Ruchir Rastogi on machine learning for genomics (see my senior honors thesis).

Throughout my time at Berkeley, I was lucky to serve as a TA for EECS 16A (Designing Information Devices and Systems), CS 61B (Data Structures), and CS 188 (Artificial Intelligence). I am also thankful to Professors Narges Norouzi and Serina Chang for their mentorship on other research projects, and to Professors Gasper Begus and Antje Postema for a wonderful time living at Bowles Hall Residential College.

In my free time, I enjoy hiking or running the beautiful Bay Area trails, cheering on the Warriors, and cooking up new fusion recipes.
